MACRO MICRO MINUTIAE

Field Trip Brief – Reflect and consider – Concepts, Contexts and Practice (PLACE)

Three little words

  • Macro (large scale, overall)
  • Micro (small scale)
  • Minutiae (seemingly trivial things often overlooked)

Using one of the following words at each site record your senses/interact with a space at increasing intervals from your home or the Art School.

Task 1 – 1 meter

Task 2 – up to ½ mile

Task 3 – up to 1 mile

Recording these places can take any form (photographs, sound, drawing, performance etc.).

Here is my answer to this brief. It is a visual exercise that I do a lot during my travels. Training my senses to feel the space I am in. To absorb the sounds, smells, textures and colours to the point of sensory overstimulation.

It allows me to find wonder and the extraordinary things in the spaces around me.

Micro
