Art in VR – Google Cultural Institute

Google Arts & Culture is a non-commercial initiative. We work with cultural institutions and artists around the world. Together, our mission is to preserve and bring the world’s art and culture online so it’s accessible to anyone, anywhere.

he Google Cultural Institute is a platform created by Google that allows users to explore and discover art, history, and culture from museums and cultural institutions around the world. They have used virtual reality (VR) technology to create virtual tours and exhibitions of some of the world’s most famous museums and cultural sites, such as the Palace of Versailles, the Uffizi Gallery, and the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. By using VR, users can explore these sites and view art and artifacts in a highly immersive way, as if they were actually visiting the physical location. Additionally, Google has also partnered with museums to create “virtual reality field trips” which allow students and teachers to explore historical sites and landmarks from the comfort of their classroom.
